Desiderea nuncia (The messenger of desideration) is a 3-handed book that brings together the photographs of SMITH, the texts of Lucien Raphmaj and the micro-architecture plans of Diplomates, as several knowledge and several ways of materializing the phenomena of desideration.
This mysterious term designates the feeling of an indeterminate lack, resolutely linked to the stars. When the sailors of yesteryear, lost on the open sea on stormy nights, no longer had the stars to navigate, dis-amazement (the lack of stars, and the wish for their return) was then a reality for them. Our desideration announces itself as the melancholic symptom of the loss of the starry sky (de-sidera), and also promises itself as a desire (desiderium): desire in the face of the disaster of a darkened sentient world and an atrophied cosmic imagination.
This book, published by Palais books, takes us through mindmaps, for a sub-lunar journey, a daydream, a ritual of reconciliation with your cosmic destiny. Exhibited during the summer of 2021 at the Rencontres d'Arles, Desideration is a vast protean project, orchestrated by SMITH, with multiple facets and constantly evolving. Desiderea Nuncia thus presents itself as a guide to penetrate the sprawling universe of these artists.

This mysterious term designates the feeling of an indeterminate lack, resolutely linked to the stars. When sailors of old, lost in the open sea on stormy nights, no longer had the stars to guide them, de-sideration (the lack of stars, and the wish for their return) was then a reality for them. Our de-sideration announces itself as the melancholic symptom of the loss of the starry sky (de-sidera), and also promises itself as a desire (desiderium): desire in the face of the disaster of an obscured sensible world and an atrophied cosmic imagination.
