For his famous park photographs, taken at night in Shinjuku, Yoyogi, and Aoyama Parks in Tokyo in the 1970s, Kohei Yoshiyuki used a 35mm camera, infrared film, and a flash to capture a secret community of lovers and voyeurs of different ages and sexualities. His photographs document the people who gathered in these parks at night for clandestine rendezvous, as well as the many spectators lurking in the bushes who observed—and sometimes participated in—these couplings.
