Fan Ho (1931-2016) was one of Hong Kong's most celebrated photographers. Having moved to Hong Kong from Shanghai in 1949, he photographed the streets of Hong Kong and the daily lives of its residents in the 1950s and 1960s, during the city's economic transformation. Fan Ho often composed his photographs with geometric compositions and unique textures, while creating a sense of atmosphere through the interplay of light and shadow. Through the collaboration of the Fan Ho Foundation and Blue Lotus Gallery, Kyoto Benrido has created a collotype portfolio containing six of Fan Ho's most representative works, each print handmade by master printers in Benrido's studio.
