“Ossoue” – this is the name of one of the largest glaciers in the Pyrenees, located in the Vignemale massif, on the northern slope of the French-Spanish border. It is also the name chosen by French photographer Grégoire Eloy, winner of the Bourse du Talent (2004) and the Prix Niépce (2021), for his project that documents the imminent and inexorable disappearance of this majestic ice giant.

Having been interested for several years in the relationship between man and the environment, it is within the framework of the 2021 edition of the Résidence 1+2 that Eloy adopts the approach that a glaciologist would have.

Blurring the tracks, playing on the loss of bearings and getting lost in the immensity of the micro then the macro. Ossoue plays in a permanent ying and yang with those who, tiny silhouettes standing out against the snow, continue to measure the evolution of the glacier. We find ourselves spectators in turn caught up in the beauty of the silence of Grégoire Eloy's images.

It is also the name chosen by French photographer Grégoire Eloy, winner of the Bourse du Talent (2004) and the Niépce Prize (2021), for his project documenting the inevitable disappearance of this majestic ice giant.

Interested for several years in the connection between man and its environment, it is within the framework of the 2021 edition of the 1+2 Residency, that Eloy adopts, methodically, the approach of a glaciologist.

To confuse the tracks, to play on the loss of reference points and to lose oneself in the immensity of the micro and the macro: this is the intention of this exhibition. Ossoue plays in a permanent ying and yang with those who, tiny silhouettes standing out against the snow, continue to measure the evolution of the glacier. We find ourselves spectators in turn, caught up in the beauty of the silence on Grégoire Eloy's images.
