NIKITA SEREDA, FLOWERS

NIKITA SEREDA, FLOWERS

05.03.2007.03.20

VERNISSEMENT / OPENING: 05.03.20, 6-9PM

The &co119 Gallery is pleased to give carte blanche to the young Ukrainian artist Nikita Sereda from March 5 to 7, 2020.

Flowers?
Like children, flowers are born,
Flowers bloom, children grow,
What's the point of blooming? Why bother?
Very quickly faded, their lives are nothing but fatality!
Planted by man, as man was planted by God,
We expect only beauty from them,
As God expects only goodness from us.

Through her exhibition Flowers, Nikita Sereda transcribes what living in Ukraine today is like; a mixture of religion, desolation and hope.

I see people with faith who believe in God, but their prayers don't seem to
not have been heard. Their flowers do not bloom.
Flowers are seen as a symbol of hope for future generations.
I sometimes see my own reflection in the people I photograph.
In recent months, my photographic practice has evolved a lot. I have been
looking for new ways to present my images, both artistically and technically.
Most of the time when I print a photo, I'm not happy with the initial look. With a standard print, I feel like my emotion is lost somewhere in the process.

Flowers?

Flowers,
As much as children, are being born everyday,
Flowers blossom, children grow up,
Why dare blossoms when life only lasts as long as a breath?
Planted by Man, as Man was by God,
We only expect beauty from them,
As God only awaits kindness from us.

Through the exhibition Flowers, Nikita Sereda captures what it feels like to live in Ukraine today; a swing of religion, desperation and hope.

I see people with faith believing in god, yet their prayers don't seem to have been heard. Their flowers aren't blooming.
Flowers are seen as a symbol of hope for the next generation.
I sometimes see my reflection in the people I shoot.
My practice has been evolving the past months. I have been in search of new means to present my photographs, both artistically and technically.

Most of the time when I'm printing a photo, I'm not satisfied with the original look, with the standard print I feel like my emotion gets lost in translation.
