DAESUNG LEE
Daesung Lee is a South Korean photographer born in Busan in 1975.
He has lived in Paris since 2010. After obtaining a Master's degree in Fine Arts with a focus on Photography at Chung-Ang University in Seoul in 2003, he turned to documentary photography in 2008 to better tell the stories of the people he photographs. He is particularly interested in globalization and the ecological crisis.
Nominated for several awards, Daesung Lee is, among others, among the winners of the Sony World Photography Awards in 2013 and 2015. In 2014, he was named Environmental Photographer of the Year in London and was the winner of the Lens Culture Visual Story Telling Award. In 2015, he won the Lens Culture Portrait Award in the Conceptual category and won 2nd prize at the Choice Awards at the Santa Fe Photo Festival in the United States. In 2016, he won the Prix Voies-Off and was nominated for the Prix Pictet. In 2017. He was also a finalist at the Tokyo International Photo Festival.
