Existence is a photographic documentation of the Theatre de Situation, Jōkyō Gekijo, by photographer Tamiko Nishimura. The photographer was born in 1948 in Tokyo and later graduated from Tokyo Photography College in 1969 with her photographic series around the underground theatre movement directed by Jūrō Kara. After her diploma, she was collaborating with respected photographers such as Daido Moriyama and Takuma Nakahira working in style of the Provoke movement. Existence summarizes her graduation work which captures the emotions of the performers with black and white images.

Existence est une documentation photographique du Théâtre de Situation, Jōkyō Gekijo, par la photographe Tamiko Nishimura. Le photographe est né en 1948 à Tokyo et diplômé de Tokyo Photography College en 1969 avec sa série photographique autour du mouvement de théâtre clandestin dirigé par Juro Kara. Après son diplôme, elle collaborait avec des photographes respectés tels que Daido Moriyama et Takuma Nakahira travaillant dans le style du mouvement Provoke.
