Performing for the Camera is a catalog of an exhibition held at the Tate Modern in London in 2016. The catalog is divided in  three different sections : the documentation of artistic performances and collaborations between a photographer and performers, portrait photography from an innovative perspective and photographers that have a strong performative element in their photographic practise. Performance has played an important part in photography since the beginning of photo history, it adds layer of humour and improvisation in the photographer’s work. The book features around 300 works for instance from Yves Klein, Eikoh Hosoe, Lee Friedlander and Cindy Sherman. The catalog includes as well an essay by Jonah Westerman, taking a closer look philosophically into the relationship between performance and photography.
