Every day, many people come to the municipal street workout playground in Parc de Bercy, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. One of them, Medhy, is behind a number of projects and initiatives to transform the site into more than just a sports ground. In May 2020, he invited Marine Peixoto to come photograph.
Her practice then took on the rhythm of the ground. Just as some people do push-ups and pull-ups, Marine Peixoto carried out an intensive photo shoot. “Pushing” every day means sculpting yourself, just as putting effort into a work of art. The routine, the repetition of training sessions and the cycle of the seasons challenged her determination to “occupy the present” and forced her to constantly renew her point of view on the same subject. This experience of exhausting a place and a way of seeing is a relentless act of faith in others and in oneself.

Every day, many people frequent the municipal street workout area in Bercy Park, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. One of them, Medhy, is behind several projects and initiatives aimed at transforming the site into much more than just a sports field. In May 2020, he invited Marine Peixoto to come and take pictures.
Her practice then takes on the rhythm of the field. Like some people do push-ups and pull-ups, Marine Peixoto did an intensive photo shoot. “Pushing” every day is sculpting yourself, like investing in a work of art. The routine, the repetition of training and the cycle of the seasons have tested her determination to “occupy the present” and have forced her to constantly renew her point of view on the same subject. This experience of exhaustion of a place and a look is an act of tireless faith in the other and in oneself.
