Fan Ho was born in Shanghai, China, in 1931. At the age of 13, his father gave him a Rolleiflex, and he was immediately captivated. From the start, he displayed an innate sense of light and dramatic framing that are the hallmarks of his images today. In his teens, Fan Ho immigrated to Hong Kong. There, he began documenting daily life in the bustling city, from crowded markets to lonely alleyways. Over the next few decades, Fan Ho exhibited his photographs at international fairs, exhibitions, and festivals, winning nearly 300 awards. Fan Ho passed away in 2016.
