An early and rare edition by post-war Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama, embracing his photographic expression with this Japan edition, Photo Theater II from 1978.
“In his first exhibition, “Japan: a Photo Theatre I,” Moriyama recorded the lives and expressions of traveling actors, as the title suggests. In this book, however, all the photographs were taken in Tokyo. In these, he takes objects existing in the world such as posters, magazines, mannequins, etc. media, and places them on his own stage as if they were his own objects. When we look at these photographs ... the reflection of his soul, we are forced to notice what exactly we are looking at in everyday life.” - Shoji Yamagishi
