This book is a faithful reproduction of the photo book "Daido Hysteric No.4", published in 1993 by the influential Japanese fashion brand Hysteric Glamour.
The “Hysteric” series, first published in 1991, was launched as a platform for photographers to showcase their work without having to respond to requests from advertising or marketing clients. Unlike the previous three issues, which featured a number of different photographers, Daido Moriyama was the sole artist responsible for producing issue 4.
The publication, limited to 300 copies, sold out as Moriyama gained international fame during the 1990s. The book, which includes over 300 pages of Moriyama's photographs, is both an important showcase of Moriyama's work in the early 1990s and a cornerstone of the crossover art culture that has defined Harajuku since the 1990s.
