Scott is known for his photographic work of people, portraits and the female form, but in Conversations with Blue he has put down the camera and produced minimal abstract works in an attempt to personalise the ocean. Scott’s new images present moments of fragility and harmony captured in a way that is respectful of his time and place. Nigel’s cyanotypes are each unique, single images exposing a moment with the intention of bringing us closer to the ocean. Here is a quote from Scott on his initial inspiration for his most recent work: “On a trip to Jamaica and remembering my mother’s love of flowers and ikebana, I began using flowers, leaves and any other flora as negatives of nature.”
