ST. JOHN'S WORT - K-Narf & Shoko
From November 5, 2022 to January 28, 2023
The Franco-Japanese artist duo K-NARF & SHOKO plays at "being a photographer" and creates Extra-Ordinary photographic projects using an unconventional development technique invented by K-NARF about fifteen years ago: tape-o-graphy. This photographic process, unique in its kind and directly affiliated with the Bricolage artistic movement, has become a true signature of their work and allows them to experiment with various photographic fields such as portrait photography, archival photography, advertising photography and science fiction photography.
In 2020, they moved their studio from Tokyo to Kyoto to get closer to nature and began a truly Extra-Ordinary botanical photography project. For over a year, while renovating an old traditional Kyoto house into their artist's studio, they regularly photographed ordinary plants and flowers around their home.
Made during the difficult period of the pandemic, they decided to name their photographic project after an ordinary flower whose virtue is to chase away depression and bring good luck: St. John's Wort.
