CHIEKO SHIRAISHI

Chieko Shiraishi est née à Yokosuka, dans la préfecture de Kanagawa. Elle a étudié la photographie et la technique de la chambre noire dans un atelier donné à Funabashi-shi, dans la préfecture de Chiba, par Katsuhito Nakazato et Kazuo Kitai.
 
Depuis 1998, elle a présenté une vingtaine d'expositions personnelles, au Japon, en Italie et en France.
Ses œuvres font partie des collections permanentes du musée des arts photographiques de Kiyosato et du musée d'art d'Ashikaga.

Chieko Shiraishi was born in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture. She studied photography and darkroom technique at a workshop given in Funabashi-shi, Chiba Prefecture, by Katsuhito Nakazato and Kazuo Kitai.
 
Since 1998, she has presented some twenty solo exhibitions, in Japan, in Italy and in France (Shimakage, Mind’s Eye, 2016). She also participated in the Tbilisi Photo Festival in 2016.
Her work is held in the permanent collections of the Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts and the Ashikaga Museum of Art.
 
Chieko Shiraishi has published three books of photographs, Saboten to Shippo (Cactus and Tail) in 2008, and Shimakage (Island Shadow) in 2015, and co-authored Umi ni Shizunda Machi (Towns that Sank  into the Sea), published in 2011. Her latest photo book, Shikawatari (Deer Crossing), published in 2020,  won the Higashikawa Special Photographer Award in May 2020. She lives and works in Tokyo.
